About the Class Aves

This is the class of birds. Though their most notable characteristics are their feathers and wings. they are not

simply limited to this; they posses strong, horny beaks instead of teeth. Their feathers keep their bodies

warm and promote homeostatis by maintaining a stable inner temperature. Birds lay hard-shelled eggs,

where their offspring grow and develop until birth. [18]

Did you know?

10,000 species. Aves descended from the dinossaurs (though they of course have evolved a lot!) [18]

Did you know…?

Owls can rotate their necks 270 degrees. [29]

Owls are nocturnal animals, making its easy for them to find their preys (insects, small mammals

and other birds) as they sleep. [28]

In addition, the color of their feathers helps them blend into their environment (camouflage), which helps them to hide from their preys and predators. [28]

Furthermore, owls are farsighted, which helps them catch their preys easily when they are perched on a tree. A group of owls is called a parliament. [28]
